V013. Intermodular analysis may be incomplete, as it is not run on all source files.

Aug 04 2021

Intermodular analysis on a limited list of project files leads to the loss of interprocedural information. This warning is only relevant for C and C++ projects.

Intermodular analysis is performed in 3 stages:

  • Interprocedural facts for each translation unit are collected in the corresponding '.dfo' file.
  • Interprocedural facts from each '.dfo' file are merged into a single file.
  • The project analysis with interprocedural facts happens.

To ensure the greatest efficiency of intermodular analysis, it is better to run the analysis on the entire project. In this case, the amount of collected interprocedural facts is maximum. Therefore, the quality of analysis is improved, and the analyzer, hypothetically, can find more messages.
